Inspiration
Owner / Photographer unknown - via tumblr
The contrast against the neutral / 'dull' colours of the building with the buckets of bright, nourishing flowers is what really inspires me about the image. Even though there is this contrast, all the colours still complement each other and nothing feels out of place.

Architecture, as well as nature, are both of my fundamental 'go to' initial sources of inspiration. They're both complimentary of each other whilst contrasting at the same time. Nature has this soft, delicate feeling, but can also be quite harsh and destructive when focusing on natural disasters. Architecture can also be seen this way. The ability to explore movement and shapes using  unconventionally beautiful and functional materials in the construction of a building.

Using simple colours is something that is important to me when designing and styling within work and my personal life. Copious amounts of colour are not needed if the designing / putting together is done well and this is something I always aspire to when it comes to my design work. I particularly like this piece due to the clean cut of the shapes, the mathematical influence and the complimentary colours.

Ximon Lee - Graduate Collection - thisispaper.com
On viewing Ximon Lee's recent collection A/W 15, there is no question that he has developed his work since I saw his first collection on the online magazine thisispaper.com. The layering of fabrics and textures, as well as prints, really draw and inspire. He experiments with shape and movement, working away from traditional men's tailoring.

Every designer has their style icons, mine are Alexa Chung and The Olsen Twins. Therefore  when either produce something, I take real interest and inspiration. When Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen established the brand in 2006, I instantly fell in love with their concept, particularly the consideration they place upon fabric choice - how it drapes and the silhouettes it creates. These are qualities I utilise when developing my own designs and ideas.
Development / Initial Ideas / Sketchbook
Hereford College of Arts - Environment Project - Year 2
One of the first projects I had during my second year of college was based on 'Environment'; I looked into nature but did't want it to be typical, so I then explored into the idea of quarries. The beauty of it being a natural material with the contrast of it being a man made environment. To interpret this environment, I focused on using appliqué and weave to portray the textures and layering that affect the rocks within the quarry.

Hereford College of Arts - Final Major Project - Natural Disaster - Year 2
My chosen theme for my FMP was natural disasters. With nature having a huge influence on my work, I used it as my main inspiration and felt it would be the best way to showcase everything I had learned over the two years at college. This project allowed me to explore natural disasters and translate it in my own way with innovative designs. Angelina fibres, free hand embroidery, puff print, prociene dye, and more samples were produced in order to explore the best way to showcase my theme.

University of South Wales - Fashion Visualisation - Portfolio work
As part of my visualisation project, I had to produce a portfolio of life drawings and development drawings of faces, arms and feet. Learning to get proportions right, working with perspective and different medias have helped me to develop my style as well as exploring my drawing skills. Life drawing is something I am continuously working on and perfecting.

University of South Wales - Fashion Visualisation - Portfolio work
To support the exploration and development of my own style, I looked into different artists that could inspired me. Hattie Stewart was a artist I looked into. Initially, I doodled directly onto existing magazine covers and produced a few of these. To take it further, I designed my own front cover, then doodled on top of that. Projects / work that allows me to push myself, to explore and grow as a person is something I find really inspiring. I want to continuously learn and expand my existing knowledge.

University of South Wales - Fashion Visualisation - Sketchbook work (then applied to digital work)
Line, tone and perspective were the main themes within my Fashion Visualisation project, which we developed and interpreted using our own views and ideas. The limitation given for this project was that everything had to be black & white. I found this project very stimulating due to the theme and its limited use of colour. Through out my sketchbook, a progress can be seen in my character designs, as well as my garments and ideas. As well as producing a sketchbook and portfolio, ten digital pages had to be created using influence from my sketchbook; this allowed me to evolve my previous knowledge of digital programmes.
Final Work Pieces
Hereford College of Arts - Affordable Arts Project - Glacier Mountains - Knit and Felt bags - Year 2
During my second year at HCA, a project was given to produce at least 6 products to sell to the general public, at the annual Hereford College of Arts, Affordable Arts Fair. The main theme of this project was 'Nature'. Being a big influence of mine, I wanted to find something that I found exciting and stimulating. Glacier Mountains become my focus, producing knit and felt clutch bags to be sold. The techniques and natural materials chosen gave the softness of the natural environment whilst contrasting with layers and experimentation to give the harshness.
Hereford College of Arts - Additional Unit Project - Nature vs Architecture - Abandoned Theme Park - Year 2
During my time at Hereford Art College, I had to have evidence of a certain amount of projects completed - the additional unit was one of these projects. As a group of four of us, we decided on a project theme to work on - Architecture vs Nature. After initially being unsure on what to focus on, I decided to look at abandoned theme parks. The idea of nature taking over an area that was once 'theirs', the rust of the roller coasters and shapes / patterns within these parks. For my final pieces, wall hangings, I used pressed flowers, with considered fabric strips and wire; giving the structure of a roller coaster with the contrast of neutral colours and materials.
Hereford College of Arts - Final Major Project - Natural Disasters - Androgynous Dress - Year 2
My final piece demonstrated all the techniques and processes I experimented with for this particular project. I designed and produced a unisex dress as it was this project I wanted to explore my passion for both menswear and womenswear. Although this is not a ready to wear dress, it allowed me to explore my creativeness - continually pushing my ideas and experiments until I was 100% happy. I find inspiration in myself as well as other places and sources and I want to keep learning and broadening my knowledge throughout every aspect of my life.

University of South Wales - Fashion Visualisation - Final Illustrations
As part of the Fashion Visualisation module, I had to produce an end illustration demonstrating the emotions my collection evokes. After developing my own style of drawing, through tasks set during the project to produce a portfolio of work , I decided to continue my developed style into my illustration.
